During my stay in the Speulderbos near the village of Drie I was deeply impressed by the length of the blown down beech trees.
When I was standing between the upright pillars it felt like being in a Cathedral.
In a few situations I drew some sketches on location.
Doing so I got convinced that nothing would show GROWTH as good a 1 to 1 image of such a fallen giant. I did not have time for it so as an alternative I measured the length with the rope which is exposed; nearly 27.5 meters.
Lying in this building it is the long, outstretched witness of the beech which lies in the wood right now.Next to the fallen tree I found an acorn, no doubt it was the same size as the beginning of the now fallen tree.
For me these two elements point to the parable of the mustard seed: not quantity but potential growth is the essence in the Kingdom of God
