Lectern

Hands up

Usually a lectern is a neutral chair. In this particular case she helps us reach out to what God is giving us. Hands to receive but also to give, just like our hands reach out to the sky to present God our worship.

This metal fits the pipes that installed above the rostrum perfectly. The colours of the environment are reflected in these metals in a beautiful way. The rough welding contributes to the contact and the unity of the piece of art with its surroundings.

The idea and the design is by Willem Zijlstra, the artistic and technical production is by the polish artist Jurec Bokrzycki (member of the Baptist Church in Wroclaw)

Three parts

The receiving hands visually work together with the painting on the background in which you can see manna and quails falling from heaven. Signs of God that there will be food in times of need.

And finally a beamer will project a piece of art on a big screen to the left of the lectern. This will show us that Jesus is our living bread, like we celebrate in the last supper.

Art and Religion together.

We hope that the lectern and the pieces of art will inspire us: during but also father our gatherings, as images that will stay with us after a service. For a very long time it was obliged for the Protestant Churches to stay empty. We have learned that pieces of art as tokens of our religion can contribute, especially in the visual era that we live in.
