Since a couple of years the members of Baptist church in Huizen gather with great pleasure in the auditorium of one of the local high schools. The size of the auditorium is very suitable for our gatherings, but the auditorium remains to be the great hall of a high school. When our parish gathers, the atmosphere in the auditorium is the atmosphere of a great hall of a high school, you can’t see that we use this space for another purpose: worship.
Art around the rostrum
Off course you can hear it because of the singing, the praying, the Bible readings and the sermons. But those are all auditory signs, there aren’t any visual signs. Can we also experience the worship with our eyes? That experience is the reason to put several pieces of fine art around the rostrum. Those pieces of art let us experience the worship in a penetrating manner. They are visual witnesses: sermons through steel, dust or paint, tokens of our identity.
