Human tradition considers Venus as the prototype of grace and beauty born out of the foam of warm waves of sea water.

The contrary is happening in this painting: here we are confronted with a woman coming out of the grey sea who is a thin and desolate being, lonely and vulnerable, with a wide and threatening sky looming up behind her back.
The wave breakers are strong and dark like severe judges.

Modern media show us bold and beautiful women, confident and ready for a bright future.
But who is brave enough to look behind their facades will also find quite different things.
